2011 Season Update
Exciting season thus far shows three boats within a few hundred-thousandths of a point
apart with two other boats not far behind.
The crew race was recently won by none other than Mr. Hector McKemey in light, difficult
conditions. He has proven to be a sailor in his own right while providing steady crew aboard
Eaglet all season. Well done, Hector! Horseshoe Harbor YC again hosted the after-racing
BBQ and party.
The Spring Season was won by Allegro and the Summer Season by the newcomer boat,
Aeolus, and skipper Jeff Whittle. Aeolus also won Larchmont Race Week, a difficult task for a
skipper unfamiliar with the winds and waters of western Long Island Sound.
The overnight cruise to Oyster Bay had to be cancelled due to Hurricane Emily, so we will try
again next year.
Upcoming events the class will participate in are the Larchmont YC Leukemia Cup, Indian
Harbor Classic Yacht Regatta (September 17) run out of Greenwhich, CT, S-Class fleet
championship racing in Newport, RI (WLIS fleet represented by Allegro and Dilemma) with
the Narragansett Bay and Buzzards Bay fleets on September 24-25, the Heritage Cup from
Hempstead Harbor and the Columbus Day Regatta.
This has been an exciting year with 8 boats qualifying. Next year looks to be a banner year
with 9-10 boats racing!
